The Map View tab allows users to see the exact geolocation of their loggers in the field on an interactive Google Maps window
Fixing location
To place a logger on this map, the exact GPS coordinates need to be recorded and saved on each logger's profile. Upon login, users are brought to the 'Sites' tab. Each logger in the customer's fleet is visible here. To enter in GPS coordinates the site name link must be clicked on which opens up another window. Select the 'Location' tab and enter the specific latitude and longitude coordinates, then click 'Save Changes'. Users based in the UK may need to refer to specific instructions at the bottom of this article
Once saved, loggers will now appear on the 'Map View' tab and the colour of their pin icon is the same as the colour of their status icon (online, offline, etc)
If you are onsite, GPS coordinates can be ascertained and saved to each device by logging into the mobile Outpost website by referring to our Smartphone installation article
Changing a site location in Map View
Sites can be moved by amending the coordinates saved as described above or the pin on the map can by clicked, dragged and dropped around the map. Coordinates are immediately updated as soon as the pin is dropped
Hovering the mouse over any site within Map View will reveal the site name
Sites can be removed from the map completely by right-clicking on the pin

For users based in the UK, who may use Ordnance Survey-derived eastings and northings rather than standardised latitudes and longitudes please follow this method for converting those figures as Outpost software only understands latitudes and longitudes :
1) go to https://gridreferencefinder.com
2) Enter the supplied eastings and northings in the corresponding data fields (X and Y respectively)
3) This will add a pin to the map - click on the pin and a new window opens up - this window contains the corresponding latitude and longitude which can be copied and pasted and used to enter in the Outpost software as described above
